Volhynia Life-Guard Regiment

Volhynia Life-Guard Regiment

Postby Sub Bill on 14 Jan 2009, 20:30

I find this badge from the Volhynia Life-Guard Regiment interesting as I purchased it some time back from a local dealer.
What is the actual name of this badge?
As with anything, I am concerned as to whether it is a reproduction or not.
Have any reproductions ever been seen and to what numbers?
What is the name inscribed on the badge?
If real, how can one research a name inscribed on it?
Also what is the estimated value?
Regards,
Sub Bill

Bigger Photos. Educate me. Compare this reproduction to an authentic badge. Who is making reproductions, how and where? Is there a market for these reproductions and is there a value? What is the quality of this reproduction? Is there any reason I should not destroy this badge to keep the uneducated (like myself) from thinking it is an original?

Robert,
No problem, we can't learn if we do not ask the questions.
Does this badge as it is, have any value?
How can I spot a fake in the future?
If anyone else has opinions, please jump in, it would be greatly appreciated.

The original badge cost $3000+.
The copy is $300-$400.
It is impossible (for me) to explain all situation how recognize the fake.
I spent 10 years for that.

Robert,
Thank you for the information. Can you give me just a few pointers on my piece that make it unmistakeably a fake?
